Short answers, each linking to the guide with the full story. If none of these covers it, get in touch.

I replaced a file but still see the old one. Why?

Almost always your own browser’s cache. DocBeam serves files with a five-minute browser cache, so if you’d already opened that file recently your browser may keep showing its saved copy for a few minutes.

Anyone visiting for the first time gets the new file straight away — the CDN’s cache is keyed on the file’s contents and corrects itself immediately.

To confirm it worked right now, hard-refresh (Cmd+Shift+R or Ctrl+F5) or open the link in a private window.

Version history and replacing files

No. That’s the main reason to replace rather than re-upload — every button, email and QR code pointing at that URL keeps working.

Can I recover an old version of a file?

On Starter and above, yes — open Version history and restore any retained version. Starter keeps 2, Pro keeps 5, Unlimited keeps 10.

On Free, no. Replacing overwrites the file permanently.

Version history and replacing files

No. Folders never appear in a file’s public URL, so you can reorganise a Library however you like without breaking anything published.

Can I rename a file?

You can always change its display name safely — that’s cosmetic.

Changing its slug rewrites the public URL, and there’s no redirect from the old one. If a file is already linked from your site, leave the slug alone.

Uploads and limits

How large a file can I upload?

Depends on your plan: 50 MB on Free, 100 MB on Starter, 500 MB on Pro, 2 GB on Unlimited.

Webflow’s own asset limit is 10 MB, so even Free takes files five times larger.

What file types can I upload?

DocBeam’s server accepts anything you send it — there’s no server-side allow-list.

The Designer panel’s file picker filters to the types DocBeam is built for (PDF, Office documents, images, archives, video and audio). The dashboard’s upload area applies no filter, so use that for anything unusual.

Do downloads count against my Webflow bandwidth?

No. Your files are stored and served entirely by DocBeam, on files.docbeam.io or your own custom domain. Webflow never sees the request, so it can’t count it.

Plans and access

Is pricing per site or per account?

Free, Starter and Pro are per Webflow site — each connected site is its own Library with its own plan. Unlimited is account-wide and covers every Library you have.

Plans and billing

Who can manage my Library?

Anyone with access to the underlying Webflow site. There are no separate DocBeam seats or invitations to manage — access follows Webflow.

Changing the plan is different: once a Library is paid for, only its billing owner can change it.

Plans and billing

Do I need a Cloudflare account?

No. DocBeam runs on Cloudflare’s infrastructure, but that’s our account, not yours. There’s nothing for you to set up.

Can I serve files from my own domain?

Yes, on Pro and Unlimited. Point a subdomain you control — something like files.yourbrand.com — at DocBeam with a CNAME record, and your files are served from there instead of files.docbeam.io.

Useful if you’re handing a site to a client and would rather nothing in the URL mentioned DocBeam. Only the Library’s billing owner can set one up.

Leaving and deleting

What happens if I disconnect Webflow or uninstall the app?

Your files stay hosted and your links keep working. Disconnecting removes DocBeam’s access to your Webflow site; it doesn’t touch what you’ve already uploaded or the URLs serving it.

What happens if I delete a Library?

It’s soft-deleted with a 90-day grace period. Restore it within that window and everything comes back, including its subscription. After 90 days the files are permanently removed.

If you only want to stop paying, cancel the subscription instead — that drops the Library to Free and keeps your files and links alive.
